The many questions about the killing of one’s parent go unanswered in the modest body of scientific literature on parricides. The existing studies are limited by several methodological problems. Herein, we describe the problems, propose remedies, and review the legal ramifications of parricide.

The objective of this study was to examine the similarities and differences between samples of cases of matricide and patricide, to clarify factors that may be characteristic of parricide committed by men versus those characteristic of the same crime committed by women.
